Sept. 11, 2001 - God Is Our Refuge

This painting is dedicated to the victims, and families of 9/11/01. On this day of tragedy and loss, our nation was brought back to look upon the true meaning of life. Life is truly a gift of God's love and it allows us to put in perspective the things that are most important. When I look back at the heroes of 9/11/01, who sacrificed their lives on that day, it reminds me of the scripture when Jesus said "Greater love hath no man then this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. (John 15:13)." Our turning point as a nation is at the cross of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It is at the cross when we can say that "weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning (Psalm 30:5)."

Spiritual Warfare

This Painting is a representation of the battle between good and evil on this earth. The eagle is a very powerful bird and is symbolic of God's power. The snake is the serpent and it represents the forces of darkness. September 11th gave a clear and sobering representation of this ongoing battle in the spiritual realm. Right now in our country, we are fighting a physical battle against terrorists around the world. The real battle is against the spirit of antichrist which Jesus said is already in the world (1 John 4:3). We must realize that God's kingdom is greater than Satan's kingdom.

The Blood

This painting represents the blood of Jesus that was shed for us throughout all eternity. When God looks at our lives, he sees the blood of his Son that was shed for us. The blood of Jesus is divine and allows us to be partakers of his divine nature. When he shed his blood on the cross at Calvary, it shook the foundations of hell and canceled Satan's plans and intentions for humanity. Jesus paid the price for our salvation and redemption and that price was his blood.

He Came to Set the Captives Free

Even before Jesus, the Messiah walked on earth, it was spoken by God through the prophet Isaiah, God's plan for our redemption. God revealed his Son Jesus Christ through the prophet Isaiah and said, "The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, the proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound. To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn (Isaiah 61:1-2).

Colder Than Ice

"Colder Than Ice" - This painting was inspired by a dream that I had a couple of years ago. At that time, when I had the dream, I was amused by the setting and contents of it. One day, as I was praying, God revealed to me that this dream wasn't just an ordinary dream. From there, is when I realized that there was symbolic message behind this dream. God showed me that as long as we stay connected with him, we can soar over any mountain in our life, and reach our goals. Through Jesus Christ, we should always be willing to climb to higher heights and deeper depths and to believe that all things are possible. If we stay under God's wings of protection, we can look down on any mountain and valley in our life.

"Spirit of a Warrior"

Psalms 149:6 says "Let the praises of God be in their mouth and a double edge sword in their hands". This portrait demonstrates the power of the blood of Jesus and the Word of God. We wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities and demonic powers. In these last and evil days, God has given us the spiritual tools needed to fight Satan and his demonic forces. We must realize that there is a spiritual war between good and evil. God has given us the victory through his son, Jesus Christ. Hell trembles at the blood of Jesus. God has given us the blood of his Son and his word for our salvation and deliverance from eternal damnation. We must become a soldier for Christ and be willing to stand in his name, no matter what trials and tribulations we are faced with. God has given us the power to tread over snakes and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy.

"The Marks of Love"

"Herein is Love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins (1John 4:10)". "The Marks of Love" Represents the love of Jesus Christ which passes all understanding. The nails, crown of thorns and cat-o-nine tails was the ultimate price that was paid for the redemption of mankind. In spite of all his sufferings on the cross, He asked God to forgive us because of his infinite love. Jesus suffered for us so that we could be free from sin and eternal damnation. God is love and this love was manifested through his Son Jesus Christ.

"Whirlwind"

The portrait "Whirlwind" is symbolic of a troubled child on the verge of destruction. It also represents Jesus unfailing love as he carries this little boy in his arms in the midst of a dark and lost world. The tornado in the background is symbolic of destruction. The gun in the kid's hand is symbolic of retaliation for the anger, hurt and emotional scars of his childhood. Jesus said in the book of Matthew 11:28 "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest". We must come to a place of rest in the arms of Jesus and allow him to be our refuge. In the darkest hours of your life, Jesus will pick you up and carry you through any storm in your life.

This painting represents the end time tribulations before Christ's  return on earth. The hourglass is symbolic of time running out. In the book of Joel 2:31, the scripture explains that "The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the Lord comes".
